Do I need an account to swipe movies?
No. You can start swiping right away without an account. Signing in with Google is optional, and its real use is carrying your lists and taste profile to another device.
Where do the movies come from?
Movie data, posters, ratings and descriptions come from TMDB, one of the largest open movie databases, and the deck is refreshed with popular and well rated titles.
How does the movie recommendation work?
Every swipe is played like an Elo match: the genres, decade and score band of the film move up when you like it and down when you pass, and a watchlist counts as a softer yes. New cards are then ranked against that profile, with a few unrelated picks mixed in so the deck never narrows to one genre.
What is the difference between a like and the watchlist?
A like says you love the film; the watchlist says you mean to watch it. Both are positive, but a watchlist moves your taste profile less than an outright like, and the two are kept in separate lists.
